Mardi Himal trek is considered relatively new route in the Annapurna region, situated in the east of the most popular trek of Annapurna Base Camp trek, in another word, it can be called a hidden gem trek, because of it’s recently explored, believed to be officially opened from the year 2012 only. A richly diverse trek with less populated trekkers passing through beautiful dense forested areas and the rocky mountain terrain is one of the charm of this trail, goes as high up to 4450 meters to Mardi Himal Base Camp, stunning, panoramic view is guaranteed like splendid biggest snowy peaks of the world like Annapurna ranges (Annapurna, Annapurna II, III & IV), Dhaulagiri ranges, Tilicho Peak, Fishtail & HiunChuli.

The trek itself regarded as an eco-tourism trail, passing through a lush valley and picturesque villages of the bank of Mardi River & streams with dense rhododendron forest, pristine oak and rice fields. This, beyond civilization trek also offers excellent cultural experience witnessing villagers of Gurung & Magars lifestyles the way they happily choose to live without any grudges or the complaints attracts the passerby. Instead, they offer their smiles and hospitality to make you comfortable and feel secure all the way.

This trek is combined with one of the popular treks of the country, Annapurna Sanctuary Trek. This trail takes you deep into the Annapurna and Mahhapuchare Himal. You will also be seeing 360 degree panoramic views of Annapurna I south face and Machhapuchare North Face. During the trek, witnessing the Gurung village with houses hipped with slated roof is much more interesting. The Trek traverses a variety of terrain from lowland village and rice terrace to glaciers and offers stunning mountain views.

Day 01

Arrival in Kathmandu (1300m)
Transfer to hotel.

Day 02

Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour
Around 9.30 AM in the morning there will be formalities of meeting the guide and brief information of the tour of the day. We start the tour for discovering the extraordinary city. The program will be: Pashupatinath temple, Boudhnath Stupa & Bhaktapur City.

Day 03

Ktm- Pokhara- Austrailian Camp (Phedi (1130 m) and walk up to Australian Camp (2165m/ 4.30 hrs)
You will havea morning flight to Pokhara around 9 in the morning, 40 minutes flight will make you land in Pokhara. There will be our trekking staffs to greet you and take you straight to Phedi by drive.
The first day of walk will be short climbing up to a ridge by a “Nepalese Staircase” Dhampus (1700 m.) is a large village strung out along that ridge, here you will be rewarded with great mountain views. We still continue our walk ascending and enter rhododendron forest and follow a trail paved with stones.
And finally come to the top for the halt to Australian Camp for the night.

Day 04

Pothana-Deurali-Forest Camp (2500m/ 4.30 hrs)
It’s an easy and gradual up ward trail, we pass through Pothana and come to Deurali. There is a right turn in Deurali signposted “Forest Camp” the trail is through jungle, at first up then undulating on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m).
There are now 3 lodges in Forrest Camp. Simple but clean so again a good choice. We also witness the views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna south & Machhapuchare during the walk.

Day 05

Forest Camp - Badal Danda (3200m/ 4 hrs)
The trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. Todays trail is not that long, it is walking through more jungle with occasional glimpses of Annapurna South before getting into Low Camp (2970m).
During the trek at one point the small part of Pokhara can be seen. There are 2 simple & basic lodges.

Day 06

High Camp (3580m/ 2.30 hrs)
The trail is all the way climbing up, the hardest walk of the trail, but, view of the stretched mountains ranges along with the Ghandruk village on sight will make more worth climbing up.
The trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, but the trees soon start getting smaller as we start climbing up, and after about an hour of walk out of the jungle and onto the open ridge we witness spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to the left.. The trail then undulates along the ridge and awe come to High Camp (3550m) for the overnight.

Day 07

Mardi BC- back to High Camp (4450m/ 6-7 hrs)
Stunning view of close range of Mardi Himal with Machhapuhcare and other amazing view will make the day unforgettable. Above all, the rare view of Annapurna I will make the day.
Walking up from High Camp & staying for an hour or more at Base Camp of Mardi Himal enjoying the panoramic views and then coming down will satisfy and fulfill the happiness of the trek.

Day 08

Forest Camp (2500m/ 5 hrs)
Retreat the trail, descending down all the way.

Day 09

Forest Camp-Landruk-Chomrung (2170 m/ 6 hrs)
Walking down all the way to Landruk is via jungle, we will havelunch at Landruk and then easy walk for an hour or so and then we climb steep up till we reach to Chomrung.

Day 10

Chomrong - Dovan (2500m/ 6 hrs)
Descend a stone staircase to the torrent of Chomrong Khola you walk by a suspension bridge. Ascension partly forest to Khurda Ghar where you may be able to enjoy lunch. Then about 350m down a stone staircase in the forest until the Bamboo Hotel. Then easy climb through the forest until Dovan where you spend the night. About 7 hours walking in all.

Day 11

Doban - Machapuchare B. C. (MBC) ( 5 hrs/ 3700m)
Walk along the Modi Khola river on a path generally muddy and gravel trail through the woods to a cave Hinku. Continue until Machapuchare Base Camp in part in a rhododendron forest. From the base camp, spectacular views of the Pic Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and III, and Gangapurna Machapuchare.

Day 12

M. B. C. - Annapurna B. C. (4130m). & to Deurali (7.30 – 8hrs)
Day dedicated to the discovery of some of the base camp of Annapurna. You progress along a moraine to a height. After climbing three small hills you will reach the base camp of Annapurna (4130m) from where you have an exceptional view of Annapurna I (8091m) with three bumps on his left the Varhha Shikar (7667m) Annapurna South (7219m), and peak Hiunchuli (6441m). You will also see the Khansar Kang, Kang and Singuchuli Tarka. Beyond you will see the top of the triangular Machhapuchare and the snowy peak of Annapurna III (7,555 m). Back at base camp & down to Deurali with the same trail.

Day 13

Deurali - Chomrong (2170m/ 6.30 hrs ).

Day 14

Chomrong - Banthanti (2700m/ 6 hrs)
Descending gently to the stream of Khumnu Khola travervez then you're headed Thadapani through a rhododendron forest. Then continue to the village of Banthanti in the shadow of an impressive rock face.

Day 15

Banthanti - Ghorepani (2800m/ 4 hrs )
Climb through the forest to a ridge at 3030m then descend to a grassy ledge where you will have beautiful views (comparable to Poon Hill): Daulaghiri chain, the high chain of Annapurna. You can also see the Ghorepani pass.

Day 16

Ghorepani – Hile (1460m/ 7 hours walk) via Poon Hill (3193m):
Set your alarm for 4 am today. It is 45 minutes hike up to the vantage point of Poon Hill by the torch light. Gaze westwards as the purple shadows recede and the awesome peaks catch the first dazzling rays of orange sun.. Next you can walk up to Ulleri & Tirkhedhunga and to HIle. Today’s trail is all the way descending.

Day 17

Hile-Nayapul (1070 m/ 2.30 hrs)-Pkr
It is all the descending down to Nayapul. After having some time there will be a transfer to Pokhara. (820m). Today we shall stay at the hotel booked in advance. Afternoon & evening is free and you can utilize it by witnessing small town of Pokhara.

Day 18

Tourist bus to Kathmandu. Overnight at hotel
Leisure day on your own.

Day 19

Fly back Home.
Transfer to airport.

Please note:

Clients are suggested to give maximum of 10 Kg. of personal luggage to the porter. Also, please note that on the domestic flight you are only allowed to carry your luggage of 10 Kg and 5 Kg as a hand carry.
